When Dave "Heavy D" Sparks had the idea to use his Black Hawk helicopter to help wrangle a herd of wild horses, we knew immediately there was a cinematic story worth telling. What unfolded was unlike anything we'd ever filmed. Over 50 wild horses had escaped captivity onto public land, and their presence was threatening both the native ecosystem and their own survival. Without intervention, they faced a grim fate — auctioned off to a slaughterhouse. What followed was a race against time. Through the extraordinary collaboration of Dave Sparks and a crew of local cowboys, every single horse was rescued and returned home safely.
